The active substance in Septosyl eye ointment is sulfadimidine, which belongs to a group of antibiotics called sulphonamides. Septosyl eye ointment is effective in the treatment of acute and chronic conjunctivitis, conjunctival infiltration, and infected eyelid eczema due to bacterial infection of the eye.

The recommended dose for adults, children and adolescents: a pea-sized amount of ointment should be placed behind the lower eyelid 2-3 times a day and spread with the eyes closed and rubbing lightly. If it is necessary to apply it on the eyelid, the ointment should be placed on the edge of the eyelid and spread there thinly. The cap should be immediately and tightly closed on the tube after use.
